Following feedback from local residents regarding concerns on the canal network, your neighbourhood officers have been out on dedicated patrols along canal towpaths across South Trafford. These patrols are aimed at providing reassurance, preventing crime and anti-social behaviour, and helping to keep everyone safe while enjoying these valuable community spaces.

Whether you are walking, running or cycling, please remember a few simple safety tips when using canal towpaths:

✅ Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings
✅ Avoid using headphones at a volume that prevents you hearing what is happening around you
✅ Keep to well-used routes where possible, particularly during the hours of darkness
✅ Carry a charged mobile phone with you
✅ Be considerate of other towpath users and cyclists
✅ Report any suspicious behaviour or criminal activity to the police
✅ In an emergency, always call 999
